2018 proved to be a big year for GIS training. After a couple years of sluggish demand for ArcGIS Pro training, many organizations began to migrate to ArcGIS Pro and we experienced a big increase in demand for basic training on this platform. Other software trends in 2018 included a consistent demand for Python training for both ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro as well as a sudden burst of interest in R, data visualization, and data science. This coincides with an increased demand for spatial statistics and analytics training. From a class format perspective, traditional classroom training was far more popular than online training. While there is still a demand for online training options it seems to have plateaued, which tends to be the case during relatively good economic times. Looking forward to 2019 and beyond we expect continued interest in these topics as well as renewed interest in mobile technologies, AI, drone mapping, and Lidar.
